The Prodigal Son…

“And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours. It was right that we should make merry and be glad, for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found.’" Luke 15:31-32 [NKJV]

The father said this to the first son after finding out that his father threw a party for his brother’s return.

I love the story of the prodigal son (or the lost son) because it tells us that no matter how stupid and screwed up we get, God is always willing to take us back with open arms.  Heaven rejoices when we come back home.  However, a part that stuck with me is verse 31.  Yes, he got the party, he got the priviledges of being called son and he is back home. But, he has to live with his choices.  He squandered off the money so now he gets nothing- that was it. Like it says only the first son that stayed gets the inheritance left.  It wouldn’t be fair to split what is left between them and our God is a just God. Even when God forgives us, we still sometimes have to be punished and have to live with the decisions we made.  So when you’re going through it it’s not because He didn’t forgive you, He’s happy you’re back home and He loves you but you still have to live with your choices.

It’s not enough…

“When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it swept and put in order.  Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first.” Luke 11:24-46

It’s not enough to have changed your life, cut out bad music, stopped watching things that gratify the flesh and clean up your language.  That’s great but it’s just a first step.  You can’t stop there, now you have to feed yourself with music and things and glorify God, you have to prophecy with your mouth and feed yourself the Word.  That  way you’re not empty and there’ll be no home for everything you casted out.

I’m grateful*So grateful for all the Lord has done in my life*For seeing me faithful*For changing my heart and making everything right*His mercy and power*His name is worthy of my praise*Knowing this I still cant understand why I still go astray* Maybe I’m not in my word enough*Maybe I just need to pray*Preaching and teaching I’ve heard enough*Just need to change my ways*and Lord it’s not that I don’t hurt enough*cus Lord God it breaks me down*and all that I have left to offer up are the tears streaming down and a broken spirit*contrite heart*Can I ask a question*is this how it’s supposed to be*my makeup and nature automatically separates You from me*I refuse to go a single day without You in my life* I promise I mean it*but I still feel full of everything that aint right*

There is a war going on in my members*I was baptized in the fire*was delivered*Lord do it again*baptize me again*Oh Lord touch it again*because I know what you can do with a broken spirit* By Mali Music- Broken Spirit

Power Over Sin

I was reading Romans because our pastor suggested that we read 10 chapters a day and I tried and I learned on central theme from the first ten chapters, FAITH.  All you need is faith, believe in God, believe in His existence, believe in His love and be slaves to him and not sin.  By slave I don’t mean it in the “worldly” sense it’s just when Christ died we were redeemed from sin and a lot of us still struggle with it, which is okay- we are human but the thing is we’ve been given victory over it and we need to realize that. Sin doesn’t have to be inevitable, it doesn’t have to be something that just happens we can have the spirit guide us and become righteous- the way God wants us to be.  We can’t just say “i’m human i’m going to sin”. No God has higher standards and expectations for us past that and we need to act accordingly.  Believe in Him, ask for less and less of your worldly being or your human desires and ask for more and more of His spirit in you and receive the grace to overcome sin.  The wages of sin is death and we cannot continue to sin and just hope His grace will abound.  Ignorance is not bliss because He has told you where the answers are so seek His face, read his word and you’ll be on the right path.

Is being fat, gay, homeless or a prostitute really the worst thing a human can be? Is it really worse than being jealous, shallow, vain, wealthy, snobby, prideful, arrogant, boring, fake, evil, selfish or cruel?
Just because you don’t agree with the kind of lifestyle someone else chooses to live does not mean you have the privilege to treat them less than human. Learn to respect people (1 Peter 2:17). They are a real living person with feelings, with flesh, with a delicate heart. Actually, the funny thing is I personally find it easier to love these certain human beings, because at least they are being honest in who they are. They aren’t hiding it. It’s the prideful, the selfish, and all those other struggles than can so easily be hidden from others. We can never know their true colors and motives of why they do the things they do. Those struggles are the ones that scare me.
Hey! Guess what, we all have flaws! I know, crazyyyyy stuff. So to the one who has never sinned or struggled with something, feel free to throw the stone at these disgusting human beings. Actually, hit me first. I’ll be standing with the other sinners of the world.

Judge not, lest ye be judged

I remember reading the entire court case (I actually absolutely enjoy doing even though I hate reading) for Snyder v. Westboro church- where some church members held up signs saying things like God hates gays and His death was God’s way of punishing American and a whole bunch of other absurd things. Also remember when last week a christian co-worker said he hated gay people. I went on the church’s website and what they preach in the name of God has nothing to do with the God that I serve.  I think it’s AMAZING that people that claim to follow the life and teachings of Christ can have so much hatred in their heart towards a fellow human. I do not care what bible you read or who you bend your knees to. God doesn’t hate them, He hates sin.  God doesn’t hate liars, He hates lies.  So who are you to stand there claiming you’re holy and perfect yet you didn’t read the part of the bible that said do not judge (especially when you know your hands are not clean), or the one that said love your neighbor as you would love yourself, maybe you didn’t read when Jesus said that whatever you neglected to do to your fellow humans you neglected to do to Him.

Being a christian doesn’t make you or me the judge of the world and the person with all the answers.  A lot of people are getting turned away from christianity because of things like this and because of the hypocrisy and arrogance of christians and i’m sure that’s not how God intended it.

Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone.
